The Queen's birthday celebrations

Facts

Her 80th birthday is on 21 April 2006. She will celebrate at Windsor Castle as usual, with friends and family.

Her official birthday party is on 17 June 2006. She has decided to celebrate in summer because of the cold weather in winter. Official ceremonies will be held at Buckingham Palace.

In addition there is a Queen's Birthday Honours List, the Union flag is hoisted in front of the government buildings for this occasion and gun salutes are fired at noon.
